Can’t figure out how to operate WIFI control unit

I thought upgrading to a smart control component would be a cost- and time-saving investment; I did a whole bunch of research into the bizarre manufacturers and several features, and consulted with a local HVAC corporation! The new control component cost myself and others over several hundred dollars and offers all sorts of extravagant controls, alerts, access and information. It’s supposed to trim my heating and cooling bills by up to thirty percent; Because of a voice suggest feature, I should be able to simply tell the control component when I want to raise or lower the indoor temperature, and with occupancy sensors, the control component should automatically think whether my family is home or away, and which rooms are occupied or empty. It is supposed to automatically adjust the operation of the furnace and cooling system to conserve energy and optimize comfort. I can’t do any of that. I can’t seem to get the control component to connect with my PC, computer or tablet. It simply does whatever it wants and pays no attention to my family’s schedule, sometimes the furnace blasts at maximum capacity while we’re all asleep and after that I get up in the morning to a frigid house. The control component tells myself and others I need to change the air filter the morning after I upgraded it. It constantly provides myself and others with the weather forecast, whether I want to think or not, but refuses to supply energy tracking or humidity levels. The set up and programming of the control component is featured as amazingly simply. There is a home screen that is intended to guide the user through the process. It’s so confusing that I never make it through the numerous steps.
