the house as a kid

Yucky, rainy mornings taught myself and others to care about the indoors as a kid.

We got our honorableshare of them where I grew up, ours was the sort of town you make rain jokes about, however we found particular ways to adapt to the rainy weather.

I remember cold, rainy Winter mornings that undoubtedly taught myself and others to care about a wonderful book. On a cold, wet, and rainy Sunday, my father had already regularly build a fire in the fireplace by the time I got up. Then we had our dinner and I got myself a giant cup of Tim Hortons Cappuccino and plopped down in front of the fire with a single of my favorite books, but besides the fireplace we had a heating plan that was sufficient at best. It definitely kept the vast majority of the chill away, however it was somewhat lacking, in some rooms more than others. The living room was always the coziest room, especially with the fire going. We did not even have a cable in the living room, guess it or not. We had TVs elsewhere, however my father had always wanted the living room to be a locale of fellowship or peaceful contemplation or studying, then lucky that it was the coziest room in the Winter then. I learn many a book, curled up on the couch listening to the pitter-patter of rain on the window panes and roof. Despite the fact that I’ve grown up to have a apartment with a better gas furnace, I have never forgotten how cozy that living room was on a cold and wet winter’s day.
