Living in an Area Prone to Hurricanes Means Living with Times Without Air Conditioning

Hurricane season comes every year. There are many things to account for in preparation of a storm–tree & branch removal, purchasing and storing needed supplies & planning for scrub up after a hurricane or storm has wreaked havoc. However, few people factor their temperature control needs into their plan. While everyone in great health can afford to overlook this element, old people, very young people, pregnant ladies & those with compromised health cannot withstand the high heat & humidity that prevails in hurricane season. Factoring temperature control into storm preparations should not be forgotten. There are a number of ways this can be done. If there is a power outage, it is pressing to ensure that a backup generator is available. Generators should be used to create power for small, replacement air-conditioning units that can cool 1 room at a time. It is not a good idea to connect generators to central Heating & Air Conditioning systems since central HVAC uses a ton of power. If the apartment cannot be air-conditioned by hooking up a generator, residents whose health is put at risk by the heat & humidity of the season can go to a shelter with a/c. Residents should learn about their possibilities in advance of storm season by getting a list of facilities with air-conditioning. People should also get in touch with their doctors to acquire any documentation and/or care directions they may need to access community resources. Whatever chance is chosen, temperature should not be forgotten in preparation for a storm. Heat exhaustion & dehydration are real risks during power loss. Ensuring the availability of an air-conditioned environment is vital.
