Air conditioning is changing the global landscape by allowing the development of parts of the world that were once too hot or too cold to inhabit.
There are even some cities that wouldn’t exist without air-conditioning having been invented. Some of the world’s hottest cities were founded directly due to the development of Heating & Air Conditioning technology, however and these cities continue to grow & thrive, thanks to the revolution in heating & cooling that allows city residents to bring in & store food, medicine & other supplies that come from more mild climes. But as more & more “hot cities” are constructed globally, some scientists worry that the world itself will only get hotter. The ever-increasing demand for energy will cause CO2 emissions to also increase. CO2 is known to trap hot air in the atmosphere & to have an overall warming effect on our world. Thankfully, many of these so called “hot cities” are also sunny cities with plenty of wind they can take advantage of solar & wind, that will allow them to power up well into the next century. Heating & Air Conditioning technology is also changing with the times. Some current systems are being fully powered by the sun & can be adjusted to run with the same efficiency as traditional systems while producing half the emissions. Another system being put into play to maintain the power & efficiency of conventional air-conditioning while reducing emissions is smart technology. Twenty-first century air-conditioning technology is not controlled through an ‘on/off’ switch or control unit. More progressive units are linked to an online controls that can be adjusted in response to even small changes in the environment or outside temperature.
