Renting is okay but the HVAC is terrible

In my mind, I guess I just assumed that I would live in our home for the rest of my life.

You know, we would grow old in our family home and then be off to a retirement home at the end. But, reality has a way of changing one’s perspective. First, I love our family home. It was big enough to raise all our kids in. The HVAC was perfect and we only had to replace it once. Plus, I had a study in our house that was just the best space. I adored it. Then, my kids were all gone. We figured we would stay put and they could visit. However, that just doesn’t happen as often as you might imagine. Our children have very busy lives of their own. Finally, the fact that our house was just a bit too much to take care of by just the two of us convinced my wife and I to sell. The realtor strongly urged us to get another HVAC unit put in even though our current one was still running strong. It was only the second unit we had in there. So, we did get the latest and greatest heating & cooling system. It actually ended up making us money on the sale of our home. We moved into a small condo to sort of figure out what we were going to do with the rest of our lives. It was also an opportunity to down size and transition into retirement. I like renting but I find it terribly ironic that I purchased a state of the art HVAC unit only a year ago. And now, I am living with the worst HVAC unit of my life and can’t do anything about it.
