Twenty plus years of service comes to end for old HVAC

It had to happen.

  • I’m just really thankful that we have such great HVAC people who gave us time to plan.

Our 22 year old HVAC unit has finally given up the ghost and is ready for the recycling place. However, we aren’t in scramble mode thanks to the professional HVAC people that have helped us for 22 years. They are the same people who installed the HVAC those decades ago. So, it only seems fitting that they will be the HVAC company to put in our next heating & cooling unit. Almost 2 years ago, the HVAC tech told us that we really needed to start thinking about and planning for a new HVAC unit. He told us that the old HVAC just didn’t have much more life in it and would rapidly decline in performance. He was absolutely right about that. Within 6 months, I started noting the big increase in utility costs as the HVAC ran far more trying to meet demand. Then, there were a few compressor issues and some other things we had to call the HVAC people to come repair. In the meantime, we got with the HVAC contractor to find a new HVAC unit. My wife and I tried to figure it out on our own at first. But, the information online was just overwhelming and we couldn’t really get our bearings. The HVAC contractor really listened and thoroughly inspected the house prior to offering us several options. The one we chose will be getting installed today. We’re thinking we’ll get at least a couple of decades out of this one if not more.
