Making temperature control adjustments in different residences

My spouse and I have a couple of residences that the two of us transfer between.

Both of us have a nice little residence up north where the two of us stay from May until November, and a residence down south for the Wintertime weeks.

Our main goal is to avoid the most severe weather in each location. Keeping up with the demands of different residences is sometimes exhausting, and there is constant maintenance at both locations. Both of us need to own a few lawn mowers, a few vacuum cleaners, a few washing machines and a few of just about everything. Both of us also agonize about whichever residence is left vacant. The Wintertime weather up north is certainly brutal. Both of us experience temperatures down to the negatives with a huge accumulation of snow. The conditions cause all sorts of concerns, including water pipes being frozen and bursting. Both of us don’t want to pay to heat an empty residence to a comfortable temperature, so the two of us turn the temperature control as low as possible. Both of us then stress over the possibility of an oil furnace malfunction. When the two of us get back home in the Springtime, the two of us never even know what kind of damage the two of us might discover. This past year, I noticed that a few of the seams of the walls had popped entirely. I think this is because of major swings in temperature and the framework of the residence expanding and contracting. Both of us have similar issues down south, except the concern is the heat and humidity. Both of us are reluctant to run the air conditioner machine when the house is unoccupied, however the condensation and moisture lead to mold and mildew growth… Just recently, I made the decision to invest in a smart temperature control for both properties. The ability to access the temperature control and get alerts through my smartphone is crucial.
