I once looked at a chart someone had made of all the places in the world that had perfect temperatures all year round.
The idea was that these places did not require heating or air conditioning.
Needless to say, there were very few places on the world map that this researcher chose. Most of them were in little island nations, not surprisingly, and the others tended to be near the coast of certain areas. However, this researcher didn’t just label the places on the globe that he considered to be perfect for nearly never needing HVAC. He also labeled the places where you were guaranteed to need either heating or air conditioning or both, and virtually every other place in between. I was not surprised at all to find a big red x right near the area where I live indicating that it was an inhospitable environment that required climate control. I think this researcher’s assertion was very apt, as both summers and winters around here are quite extreme and brutal. Unfortunately, all of the very nice places he pointed out were very far away from me. I could only hope to vacation there, if that. However, I’m not particularly concerned. I recently purchased a brand new heating and air conditioning system that has been working like a charm this past year. Both my heating and my air conditioning system works so well that sometimes, I will step outside and suddenly be reminded of the extreme environment in which I live. It’s easy to forget in my home where I’m kept perfectly comfortable!
