My djembe drum is starting to fall apart and is in need of some new strings to tighten the drum head.
I will go to the local business later to see if they sell the strings and do the tuning myself.
There are a bunch of videos on YouTube showing how to string a djembe so I am going to do it myself. We are going to do a show at the heating and cooling corporation for a company party soon and I need my drum to be ready for it. I have a good sound system and a great guitarist to perform with and we are both excited about the opportunity to play for all of the HVAC techs and salespeople. Some of them are musicians and we want to show them our unique style to see what they think of it. We do a more jazz kind of performance, making up music and songs in the moment. If it goes well, the owner of the HVAC company is going to get us to do some more shows at the other HVAC businesses in other towns. We have only been playing together for a few months but the chemistry we have is great and it looks like we’ve been playing together for a long time. I’ve recorded some songs and put them online and we’ve gotten a lot of views and good comments so it is pretty exciting. I still have to work at the HVAC company for money, but playing music is the most fun thing in the world to do, even if it is for free.
