Restoration to my epoxy floors

I have a kitchen that has the most beautiful floor.

The previous owner took ocean glass and laid it all on wood flooring so that it made an ocean pattern.

They then took epoxy and poured it over the glass to make a clear, shiny finish. For years I enjoyed that spot in the house. I even got a table that was epoxied like it. Well epoxy doesn’t last too long though. Moving my table around on the floor, the chairs going in and out and people walking across it create wear and tear, then certain spots looked foggy and others had scratches on them. I am not artistic or handy in any way. I knew that epoxy could be added again to make the floors look new, but I just did not have the skills. I searched around online and found a commercial and residential cleaning supplier. That can handle stained grout, gross carpets, pressure washing and they refinish floors. They do epoxy floor installation and restoration; After giving my floor and even my table an upgrade, the kitchen looks that much better. I can see all the pieces of the sea glass again and it is just beautiful. I was upset that I would need to cover my pretty floors with a rug in order to protect them. Knowing there is a business that can do the epoxy hastily and quite cheaply, I can use my floors like usual and just get them cleaned when needed. I know next time I hire them I will have them continue in my living room area and wash up the grout lines on my tile floors.

I love my mini trampoline

For Christmas my husband bought me a mini trampoline.

I have such a blast working out on it.

I have to tell myself that I can’t spend an entire hour jumping. It is a good workout and so much fun though. I am aware that my butt and calves could get really sore if I overdo it. While the mini trampoline is a great workout, it doesn’t hit all areas of my body. I have trouble getting my arms and abs involved when I do a trampoline workout. I really like to just jump up and down or with my feet going apart and back together. Sometimes I will skip or do tucks jumps to make it more difficult. When I am being lazy I will just dance on my trampoline. I have looked up workouts and there is a lot you can do with it. You can bounce on your butt with your legs in the air to do an ab workout. There is a way to do push ups with the trampoline but that sounds like making a fun workout horrible. What I do is a reward system. I do an intense workout for fifty minutes, then I earn ten minutes at the end to just play on my trampoline. If I choose to dance or just jump up and down, well I earned that right. I have even thought about buying myself a normal sized trampoline and putting it in my backyard. I don’t know many 30 year old women that jump on trampolines though.

The difference working out makes

My husband and I are both thirty years old and we work from home on a computer.

What is different is that I work out every single day and make it a priority to stretch.

I don’t drink alcohol, coffee, smoke or snack on fatty foods. I am an ideal weight and healthy. My husband doesn’t work out, eats and drinks poorly. He is constantly complaining about being sore after working at his desk. My husband also suffers from stomach issues, back pain, and sleeping issues. I told him the magic cure is making his health a priority. I want him to work out at least twenty minutes five days a week. I also want him to stretch when he gets up in the morning. Finally, I want to reduce the amount of potato chips, candy and beer that he consumes. There is no stopping him though. He quickly loses interest once he starts working out. I have tried to convince him that nobody likes working out when they begin. Quickly it gets addictive though. I like the feeling of being short of breath and sweaty. I like when I am sore the next day because that means I worked muscles that don’t usually get worked. I like stretching and feeling loose throughout the day as well. I am healthy as a horse and going to continue to stay in good shape. I am worried that my husband is only thirty and already experiencing issues with his health.

You can take a jump rope anywhere

I started out only being able to jump about 2-3 minutes

I feel jumping rope is one of the best workouts there is. It is extremely cardio intensive. My heart goes crazy, I sweat and get short of breath. I even have weighted ropes and handles that make it a little more intense as well. Sometimes I will intersperse jumping with burpees, pushups, crunches or lunges. That makes it even more diverse than usual. What I like best about jumping rope is that it is easy to pack with me. I like to get a workout at least five days a week. With a jump rope, there is always a place to workout. I can pack it in my suitcase, purse or toss it in my car. I like visiting my son’s beach house and jumping rope on his front deck. I get to watch the ocean waves while I workout. My husband and I recently went on a European vacation. It was too expensive to book hotels with gyms. So what I did was pack my rope, go outside the hotel and I jumped. Some Days I had nothing better than a parking lot, other days I had a nice stretch of land that I could run with my rope. I always get a lot of weird looks but I am very competent with my rope. I started out only being able to jump about 2-3 minutes. Now when I am really diligent I can jump rope for a solida hour and still be good at hiking on my vacation. I have noticed that I have slimmed my thighs, belly and face down since I have started jumping.

I have to work out on vacation

Anytime I go on vacation I try to get a hotel room with a fitness room or a pool.

I need to workout everyday.

I also make it a priority to work out on vacation. My husband likes to say that we are walking, hiking and constantly moving on vacation. We are burning more calories than usual. However, I know I am taking in more calories. I don’t normally eat a big meal at 2pm because my husband felt like trying crepes for the first time. I also don’t normally drink alcohol for every meal of the day and try a dessert. I need to burn off those calories. I have been in some weird fitness rooms in my day. I found that I can get a decent workout if I have a treadmill, a few weights and a bit of space to stretch. I am totally happy with that. However, if there is no fitness room, I can get a great workout by swimming. I love treading water, swimming laps or just hopping around in the shallow end. My husband usually gets a drink, his breakfast and a book and hangs out by the pool while I work out. I get to listen to music, talk to him and burn some calories. The two of us are both happiest when this happens. Sometimes the hotel doesn’t offer a pool or the weather is not ideal for it. I will swim in shockingly cold water if that is what it takes to get my workout in for the day.

The yoga class wasn’t for me

You don’t just have to take a yoga or spin class

My friend Lauren is all about yoga. She does a yoga based workout 6 days a week and swears by it. She has a special yoga mat, clothing and goes to a yoga class a few days a week. I kind of figured yoga was finding your inner peace and loosely stretching. Lauren swore I would get a good workout and be sore afterwards. I think the issue is that I am a very physical person. I stretch every day and I am a gymnast. I am used to contorting my body in a variety of poses. I am toned all over and I work out an hour every single day. The yoga class wasn’t much to write home about. I wasn’t tired, sweaty or sore. It was interesting trying a new type of physical activity. I can see where my friend would enjoy it. It is a relaxing and decent workout. I think she should supplement yoga with a cardio heavy work out occasionally and maybe some weightlifting. That is just my opinion though. There was a silver lining to going to my friend’s gym. I saw that there are other group fitness classes offered. You don’t just have to take a yoga or spin class. I found women’s self defense, weight training, pole dancing and ab intensity work out sessions. I took a bunch of fliers and planned to try out one of the classes. I might choose one the same time my friend works out so that we can at least drive together to the gym.

He doesn’t really use the gym equipment

I am exhausted, sore and I just about fell asleep in the car on the way home

I have tried to get my husband to work out for years. I finally found a gym that offers every type of fitness gear you could want. The gym offers fitness classes and personal training. There is a pool, steam room and a sauna. I thought my husband would go to the gym and find what he enjoys working out wise. I figured he would get drawn into the weightlifting section or do a kickboxing fitness class. Instead my husband is totally in love with the sauna and steam baths. He is constantly lounging in the heat and maybe doing a loose stretch. If I really push I can get him to do a few lazy laps in the pool. For me, going to the gym is quite hectic. I am frantic to experience as much as I can. I am using treadmills, rowing machines, lifting weights and swimming laps in the pool. I end up doing two hour workouts because there is just so much to do. My husband leaves the gym happy, relaxed and in a good mood. I am exhausted, sore and I just about fell asleep in the car on the way home. I know the two of us think we are the more healthy partner in the relationship. I know that I am getting a better workout, but there should be a time limit at the very least on what I do. My husband needs to at least get his heartrate up a few minutes while he is there.

Taking care of my pregnancy while being fit

I am extremely health conscious and work out oriented.

I recently found out that I am pregnant.

Immediately I worried about working out. I read about nausea, fatigue and weight gain with pregnancy. I didn’t want to just quit working out for nine months. I like that I spend an hour everyday stretching, getting my heart pumping and toning my body. I have started looking into pregnancy friendly workouts. A lot of people recommended something light like doing yoga. For me I need something a bit better than that. You are allowed to lift up to 20 pounds of weight. I immediately signed up for a weightlifting class that meets two days a week. We use weighted poles, balls and kettlebells. I also signed up for a ladies kickboxing class. Thankfully this has me doing hand strikes with weighted boxing gloves and doing a variety of kicks. As I get bigger and less mobile, I can just not be as active in the class. I still want to be physical and stretch though. There is no reason that I can’t still workout while pregnant. I have already warned both my fitness instructors that I am pregnant and going to continue with the class. They eventually will need to tailor some instructions to me specifically. Hopefully I will still like it. What was a bonus is that I got talking to the nutritional counselor our gym offers and came up with a diet plan that keeps my weight in control and also is healthy for the baby.

It was cool to learn how a heat pump operates

I’m sort of glad that my hockey game truly fell through.

Normally, I don’t have afternoons off in the middle of the week.

But our office was closed because of some HVAC machine upgrades and I only had to work from my residence for a few hours. I had planned to play hockey with some awesome friends but those plans fell through. So I happened to be around and somewhat bored when the HVAC machine serviceman came out to do the Springtime air conditioning tune-up. All of us make sure that our HVAC machine gets heating service in the fall followed by more in the Springtime. It dawned on me that I honestly didn’t understand how the heat pump made the residence cooler. In my head, the HVAC component simply pushed in air that was cooler and that cooled off the residence. I suspected that had to be wrong so I ended up just asking the HVAC machine professional that day. The HVAC serviceman then invited me to watch as he did the HVAC service and he’d show me exactly how a heat pump worked. I have to admit that it was quite the amazing heating and cooling education for me. The heat pump is honestly a genius blend of revolutionary engineering and physics. The heat pump starts the HVAC machine cooling process by moving the heat energy so it can be pushed all the way to the outside. That’s what the heat pump essentially does, it pumps heat energy from one place to another. So in the warm season, it’s taking the heat out of the residence so cooler air can replace it. I was completely amazed and won’t be taking air conditioning for granted any longer in the future.

It’s interesting how a heat pump functions

I’m sort of blissful that my hockey game fell through.

Most often, I don’t have mornings off in the middle of the week.

But our office was closed to do some Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment updates & I only had to easily work from my beach property for a few hours or so. I had planned to play hockey with some good friends however those plans fell through. So I happened to be around & a bit bored when the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment specialist came out to do the Springtime A/C tune-up. We make sure that our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment gets heating repair in the fall followed by more in the Springtime. It dawned on me that I didn’t really understand how the heat pump made the property cooler. In my mind, the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment essentially pushed in air that was far cooler & that cooled off the property. I knew that had to be wrong so I ended up just asking the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment worker that morning. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C specialist then invited me to watch as he performed the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair & he’d show me how a heat pump worked. I have to say that it was quite the stunning heating & cooling education for me. The heat pump is pretty much just a genius blend of revolutionary engineering & physics. The heat pump starts the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment cooling process by pushing the heat energy so it can be exhausted outside. That’s what the heat pump does pretty much, it pumps heat energy from a certain location to another. So in the boiling season, it’s taking the heat out of the property so cooler air can update it. I was honestly amazed & won’t be taking A/C for granted any longer.
