I was on our condo the other day and I saw a guy with a sign that said ‘need heat’. This was odd, because the two of us always see people kneeling by the road that says ‘need food’, ‘need money to get home’, ‘car broke down, help, but never ‘need heat’. I rolled down the window and I asked about his sign. He said that he was new in the section and he didn’t know any Heating and Air Conditioning company servicemans. The condo he and his husband had purchased was nice, but the heating had gone out. He called many Heating and Air Conditioning companies that were in the iPhone book, but none of them could come right out and maintenance the oil furnace for them. I asked him for his iPhone number, which he delightedly provided to me. I told him our husband was an Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman and I would have him call. When I got home, I provided the iPhone number to our husband. I told him the story, and he almost threw the iPhone number away. I said it was his option to call or not. He certainly thought the number was bogus, but when he finally called, a harried sounding man answered the iPhone. She started to cry when he told he was a Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman. He could hear adolescents in the background. He took our child with him, and told him to stay in the car in case it was some kind of hoax. When husband called him and said to bring in the tools, they were both cheerful. These were people who really needed his help, and he didn’t charge them.
