I have been with my boyfriend now for a little over a year, and we have finally decided to plan our first trip together. We’ve done a few road trips and things together in the past, but we wanted to really get away and make our dreams of travelling across the world come true. So, instead of going to lots of concerts or festivals this summer, we spent the time saving up money for our little vacation together. The hardest thing to buy was our plane tickets. So, we decided to book our trip when the flights are most affordable thanks to an app that lets us know what the prices drop for our set destination. But our parents think we’re a little crazy, because we’re doing the entire trip without any fancy hotels or Airbnb reservations. Instead, we’ll be staying with youth hostels or otherwise crashing with friends. They don’t think we’ll enjoy it because there won’t be any central air conditioning. My boyfriend and I laughed. Our parents apparently don’t know that neither of us have central AC either. Both of our apartments only have central heating. And no, we don’t have window AC units either. We just don’t mind the heat and think it’s silly to spend so much money trying to keep an apartment cooler. If we can live without central AC during our day to day lives, surely we can continue to live without it on our trip to Spain. My boyfriend and I are going to be far too busy taking in the experience to worry about something as ridiculous as air conditioning.
