Trading in the old air conditioner

Now that air conditioning season is over, my husband and I are looking at not just taking the window AC units out, but having them replaced.  We were talking about getting a couple new air conditioners. We found quite a few different models, that are highly energy efficient. The cost of the window air conditioners, when we add up for four large rooms, isn’t much less than if we got a central air conditioning system.  We seriously considered this route. The deterring factor was that we didn’t have ductwork in our home. With a boiler system, there is no need for ductwork. The boiler supplies heat, through a series of water pipes that lead to baseboard heat units. If you have central air conditioning, there needs to be ductwork for the cooled air to travel through.  We now had to scrap that idea and return to the new window AC units. The good thing about the newest AC units was that we could now purchase a window unit that had the air purification system and the dehumidifier built right in. None of our old units had this option. There was a thermostat that regulated the air, and it was made to also control the humidity.  I liked the air purifier. I have severe allergy and as bad as they may be in the winter, during the summer, they get even worse. There will be no need for ugly air purifiers or dehumidifier sitting around the house. It will be an all in one unit, complete with our window air conditioner.
