The air ducts have a clog

I have recently gotten into cooking. I started just doing the basics like mac and cheese, grilling meat and a few pastas. Now I have ventured into pad thai, fish and seasoning all sorts of noodle dishes. Because I have broaden my cooking horizons, there are quite a few new smells circulating around. After my fish is done, it is super good. While the fish is cooking, the smell is not so good. My husband has been complaining lately that the whole house reeks of garlic and onion too. I know why this is. I have central air conditioning in the home. I turn on the AC unit while I am cooking. The air conditioning blows around in the kitchen and the scents in the air quality leak into my ductwork. The scents then travel through the series of ductwork to all the rooms in the house. So every space in the house smells like my cooking because I want AC when I prepare. I can’t go without cooling when I cook though. It would be unbearable making the meals with no AC. I have the stove on, burners and sometimes I am running back and forth between dishes. My husband has mentioned getting a ductless cooling option installed. We could block off the kitchen ductwork and set up a ductless mini split. This way the kitchen cooling doesn’t affect the house. Also, the smells will not go into the ductwork anymore. It will be expensive to just get rid of some gross odors. But, I want cooling and my husband wants the smells gone.
