It was really ideal as the place was dry and heated so it would allow more people to come out and enjoy the event

Our town hosts a huge fundraiser each year to benefit the homeless shelter. They have been able to raise enough money each year to purchase new cots, run a clothing closet, and even upgrade some of the appliances in the soup kitchen. The fundraiser normally takes place at the county park and is held at the beginning of May. They set up a big carnival type event that includes old fashioned games, a pet dressing contest, and barbeque cook off. It is really a nice break from the winter’s dreary feel. For some reason this year it has never really seemed to warm up or dry out. The park is a huge mud puddle and there is no way to hold the event there. The committee that organizes the event didn’t want to postpone because people planned for the event at that time each year. They had already made arrangements with many of the vendors and entertainers months before and knew that they would not be able to change those either. One of the members came up with a brilliant idea. They contacted the owners of a small shopping mall that was basically closed and made arrangements for the event to take place indoors. It was really ideal as the place was dry and heated so it would allow more people to come out and enjoy the event. The crowd that showed up was much larger than they have had in the past and they raised almost twice as much money for the mission. I think they may consider moving it indoors in the future too because it was such a great success.
