Kids are so funny when you’re on the outside of childhood experiences.
When you’re younger, you guess that your peers are so smart, cool, & happening.
And then you grow older & realize that all youngsters are absolutely ridiculous. They make no sense. They don’t suppose a single thing about the world. And yet, they try to project this same determination & confidence to the adults around them, too. This couldn’t have been more clear than when our child haughtily proclaimed that she would be moving out Last year after every one of us asked him to disinfect her toys off the air vent in the study room. I noticed early in the day that her junk was blocking the air vent leading to the expansive air ductwork. Therefore, the room was much colder than the rest of the beach house & the control equipment wasn’t shutting off the heating equipment appropriately. When I asked our child to transport her crap from the air vent, but, she freaked out. The girl told me that she would rather transport out than deal with our Heating & A/C obsessions. And every one of us let him walk right out the front door with her tiny backpack in hand. I knew she wouldn’t be gone long – it was ice chilly outside that day. The outdoor air temperature was about 30 degrees & the temperature was snowy. It was about an minute before our child came stomping back into our warm house. Without saying a word, she went into the study room & moved her toys off the air vent so every one of us could circulate our high quality indoor air more efficiently. And he’s never clogged that air vent again.
