Cabin needs heat source

When my fiance and I started dreaming about living off the grid we always saw ourselves doing all of the work.

We were going to build our own cabin, dig our own well, and lay our own piping.

We both are experienced in DIY repair so we figured we could do it ourselves. Of course, once things got started it wasn’t that simple. It turns out that building a cabin is a lot more work than it appears to be online. Still, we got it done and it only took us 3 years. The final thing was a heat source for the cabin. We built a fireplace but we wanted something that would work all of the time and keep us warm. That is a necessity this far north. We finally decided to get a propane boiler installed in the cabin. Of course, we knew we would need to hire a heating contractor for this part of the build. If propane boilers are not installed correctly they can be dangerous. Thankfully, we found a reputable heating contractor and they gave us a reasonable price. It only took them a few days to install the propane boiler and the radiators too. So now our cabin is completely built and we are ready to start our lives together. We are not connected to any state-run items. No water, no power, no gas, or anything else. Our cabin is completely off the grid. I am very happy that we were able to do this. We get married in October and then move into the cabin. I know we will stay nice and warm with the fireplace and propane boiler.
