I probably hadn’t had HVAC maintenance on the window AC since I first had it installed.
Last year, I moved out into a modular home. It was small, but it was also perfect since it was just for me and my one cat. The modular home didn’t really come with heating and cooling, so I had a window A/C installed, and really that was enough for me. The cold rarely bothers me, and even when it does, I usually just wrap myself up in covers and I am good to go. Because of this, I never did get a heater installed. Anyways, it has been about a year, and my parents were coming over to visit me. I was showing them around my place, when my father noticed my window air conditioner and he went over to inspect it. I told him the basics about it, and for a window HVAC, it has been doing a really good job of cooling my home, which was pretty good considering since window air conditioning is a cheaper form of heating and cooling. My father then asked me when was the last time I had maintenance on the window cooling device. I probably hadn’t had HVAC maintenance on the window AC since I first had it installed. My father told me that I need to make sure that I get HVAC maintenance every year, otherwise I was going to start having issues. Right now, my cooling component was in good shape, but if I neglect it, he warned that it was going to mess up sooner or later. He told me that is why even though HVAC systems are supposed to last 10 years or more, most people’s HVAC doesn’t last that long because they don’t take proper care of it. My father told me that if I take care of this window HVAC, it will take care of me too.
