It was just last month when we got a call from the school and they expressed concern about our son being absent from school way too often.
They said he was at risk of having to repeat the grade but there were options for makeup work and he could get back on track.
Well, we had a talk with our son and learned that he was forging absence notes and skipping school! This was extremely disappointing and we had to punish him for this. We said he was not going to miss another day, and he was going to do this makeup work that the principal was speaking of so that he could catch back up. I mean, it was his Junior year in high school and we wanted him to do well and have a bright future. He tried to say that it was the temperature control settings at the school he was so uncomfortable with. He said they cranked the heating system so much that it made him sweat while he was in class. He also said other students felt the same way. I ended up going in with my wife to speak with the principal and we immediately were able to see what our son was talking about with the temperature control settings. It was way too overheated in the building and everybody looked miserable! When we asked the principal why it was so hot, he was saying something about how it had to be that warm for the students with disabilities. I don’t even know what he was saying, but it didn’t make sense. I said it was nonsense and they better adjust the temperature control settings to a reasonable level before we withdraw our child from the school. Our son was happy to report the temperature control settings were comfy after that.
