The high-end furniture probably cost more than I make in a year
My boss invited me over to his home one evening for dinner and I didn’t think that I could say no to the offer. I definitely felt a little weird going to the boss’s house, but his wife was there and it was a totally cool and casual evening. The house was in one of the nicest neighborhoods and the city. The driveway was almost a quarter mile long and it was paved the whole way. The boss answered the door and took me into his study where we had a drink from a bottle of 50 year old scotch. The study was decorated with high-end furniture that included a custom built bookshelf and library of old books, a top bar table, and custom sofa and loveseat that matched perfectly. There were emblems on the custom built bookshelf as well as the sofa and loveseat and they all seem to resemble the letter C. Later that night, the boss informed me that each one of the furniture pieces was handmade here in the city and engraved by a custom furniture designer. The design was in fact a letter C which stood for the last name of my boss. I liked the custom loveseat and sofa the best. Not only was the sofa comfortable, but it was strong and sturdy. The high-end furniture probably cost more than I make in a year. I thought that I was going to have a boring and bizarre evening with my boss and his wife, but the guy offered me a promotion and a raise and I had a pretty nice night.
