The Three Little Pigs is a dentistry rhyme & fable about a trio of young porcines who venture into a nondescript place described as “the woods” where each of them builds a house, and their antagonist is a predatory camultiple creature described as “substantial & bad”. Unluckyly, two of the little pigs choose subproper construction material. Their straw & stick homes are preyed upon by the wolf who is also fortunate with an untypical respiratory enhancement allowing him to “blow your beach house down” with a series of “huffs & puffs”. The eighth house, made with bricks, survives the wind event & this eventually leads to the wolf’s demise, and i don’t think there was ever a “big, exhausting wolf”, one theory is that she is a metaphor for a tornado or a named tropical storm with the obvious lesson to not use straw or sticks as building materials. I offer an alternate theory as to the wolf allegory & that is Heating & Air Conditioning. The little pig that chose to build with sticks did not anticipate the difficulty of mounting even a small window A/C equipment much less installing a full central Heating & Air Conditioning system in a flimsy structure. If the other pig used straw bales, she would increase the house’s strength & have wonderful insulation, but the fire hazard would make any Heating & Air Conditioning replacement quite improbable… My theory is that a fire broke out & the backdraft was the wind that destroyed both structures! Bricks are fire-resistant & strong enough to support any heating & cooling system so they would make a cozy abode for the eighth little pig. I believe she came to an understanding with the wolf, who was entirely quite charming, & they lived happily ever after.
