I think it’s time to get the heating system replaced

When would you decide to get your old heating system replaced? Is it a thought that goes through your mind when the furnace hits a certain age? Or is it something that you realize is necessary once the heater actually shuts down? For me, the realization comes when I see that the system has been acting out of character for more than three days.

While I think that it’s also important to show some restraint, it’s also important to admit when there’s a problem.

Normally, each winter I experience at least one problem with my gas furnace. Sometimes, the furnace will cycle on and off quickly, and I know that it’s not warm enough in the house to justify that happening. At other times, I notice that its far warmer in the house than usual – almost like the thermostat isn’t even acknowledging how warm it is inside! Both of these issues aren’t the end of the world for me, but at the same time, I know it’s going to eventually turn into a serious issue. Rather than wait until the furnace stops working, I’d rather get in touch with the heating and A/C repair technician while it’s not too busy. I was fortunate to be able to call in at my usual HVAC service company, and get on the schedule to have my system checked out. The HVAC service technician should be at my home next week, and at that point, I can make sure that the problems with my furnace are minor or major. If it’s a serious issue, I’ll just take care of it now. Like I said, having the furnace break down in the middle of winter is the last thing I want to deal with!
