I have always loved being my own boss. Not to say that it doesn’t have it’s challenges. There are plenty of days where I think the stress of running my HVAC business will simply make my head implode. But, I persevere because I love my community and I love what I do for a living. It is great to feel like a part of the business community after so many years of struggle. There were many fitful turns when I was starting out. While I was a licensed and professional heating and cooling expert, I wasn’t so expert in how to run a business. The worst thing about those early years was that I was always attempting to solve every problem by myself. I just thought that was what a small business owner did. This led to a lot of missed marketing opportunities among other things. I was always sort of half convinced about marketing anyway. It seemed that the majority of my business was being driven by my reputation. However, I did have some small print ads locally. I even went so far as to have a website built in the early days of the internet. But, that online presence was next to nothing. It basically was an electronic billboard and nothing else. I know I needed to do more. My first step was to find a professional online marketing company who could guide me through the world of digital marketing. They designed an online marketing campaign that included a brilliant redesign of my once feeble website. In just the first month, I have seen a 25 percent rise in web marketing traffic.

I have been a design junky from the time I was in middle school.

I was forever drawing different designs that I thought were cool.

As I got older, I got even way more into it. Art classes became what I did with every elective in high school. I was also introduced to the screen printing business as a teen when I worked part time in a local printing business. This had a lot to do with the path I took toward a career. Initially, I had planned to do tattoo work as a way to make a living using my creativity. However, that part time printing job changed everything. I decided to go to tech school to learn more about the business of label, sign, poster and garment printing. Now, I have a great business that I am able to funnel all my creative juices into. What’s even better, I found a partner who feels the same way about the printing business. We just went deep and invested in some state of the art equipment. Our new system allows us to really be competitive and supply our vendors much more quickly. The Arrow System that we have allows us to do our printing with a one step heat transfer process. We just design, print and apply. The streamlining of the work flow is awesome. There is still the full 4 color process for all of our printing designs. This has expanded our promotional garment business significantly. And, the beauty part is we are able to do all of this practically from mere table tops. We are able to produce a much higher volume of product than we ever have before.

The other day, someone told me my brake light wasn’t working.

Thankfully, several years ago, this mechanic’s shop was recommended to me, and I now have a mechanic I trust. This shop has been in business for about fifty years in our little city, and interestingly enough, it does not have the things that all the magazines say you should look for in a car repair shop. There is no space to sit and wait. None at all. And it is not clean and organized. In fact, the place is a mess. My mechanic’s shop could really use a good commercial cleaning. I look around when I go in there, and I think it has probably never had a good commercial cleaning in its whole time on earth. There is grease and oil everywhere. I am sure a commercial cleaning company could get that up for them, even though it is probably difficult. Also, they always have had a dog in the shop. Right now, they have a golden retriever puppy who lives there. He adds a bit of mess to the place, as you can imagine. I am sure a cleaning company could come in and make the place smell a little less like canine. BUt if the truth be known, I don’t care. Yes, I think they should hire a cleaning company, but even if they don’t, I will take my car there.

The Tampa Bay area is comprised of Tampa, Clearwater, St Petersburg, and a few other small communities.

The Tampa Bay area is so large that there are several different countries represented in the metropolitan area.

Tampa Bay area is made up of Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, and Citrus counties. There are more than several million people living in the Tampa Bay area. During the afternoon, all of the roads leading out of Tampa Bay are filled with cars. I happen to live outside of the Tampa Bay area, although I work in St Petersburg. Occasionally the traffic can be unnerving, however last Sunday afternoon, I was headed condo from St Petersburg. I worked until multiple in the afternoon, and our afternoon was filled with meetings and paperwork. The last thing I wanted to do was sit in traffic for 3 hours, and blessedly, that is exactly what occurred. A large tanker truck jackknifed on the interstate, closing all multiple lanes of outgoing neighborhood traffic. It took hours to clean up the mess, and traffic was backed up for 13 miles leaving Tampa. There was crude oil all over the interstate and it was a fire hazard. I sat in the automobile waiting for the traffic to move. The local stereo station kept us informed about the accident. By the time I got condo from St Petersburg, it was almost 9 in the night. I barely had time to make dinner and relax, before I had to head to bed. On afternoons care about that, I wish I could hot snooze in the day, wake up at 9, and spend the day in bed with the crossword puzzle.

I was born in 1976, and that was the first season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I grew up in Tampa, FL, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the local preferred team. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are area of the National Football Conference South Division. They joined the National Football League during the year of 1976. They were originally an expansion team with the Seattle Seahawks. After years in the National Football League, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have suffered through some pretty serious losing seasons. In the first multiple years of their franchise history, they lost all of their games! Of course, during their franchise history, they also won a Superbowl, and during the years when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were flourishing, our Mom and I used to attend every condo game. The two of us would leave our condo early on Sunday day and make the drive to Tampa Bay. The two of us always got sausage biscuits for lunch and a large cup of coffee. The two of us always got hot cats at the game. I had a frozen Starbucks Latte slushie and our Mom would usually have a freezing beer. I will never forget all of the times that our Mom and I sat in the stands and cheered for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Someday, I’m going to have a young boy of our own, and both of us will have lots of time to watch Sunday football games. I’m going to spend all weekend with our kids, just care about our Mom with me. Right now, I rarely get a chance to watch football on Sunday, let alone drive all the way to Tampa to see our preferred team play.
