When the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, you know that fall has arrived. As I walk through my neighborhood, the scent of logs burning in the fireplace, wafting through the air is present and filling my head with memories of past winters. I also realize that I, too need to formulate a plan to use my fireplace. Do I purchase the fireplace logs from the store, or a cord of wood from the farmer’s market? It won’t be long before that familiar smell of pumpkin spice will fill the air as well. Knowing that my house has an old furnace, on my walk I come to the decision to have my furnace tuned-up by a professional HVAC company. I did not have the HVAC provider check it last year, and I always had that in the back of my mind every time I heard of some terrible furnace mishap. This year, I’m playing it safe and I’ll call the HVAC provider for a furnace tune-up as soon as I get home tonight. Well, maybe in the morning, anyway. My air conditioning system has always worked well, but that is because I believe in preventive HVAC maintenance. I replace the air filter on a regular basis, and the HVAC company has been out to perform several A/C maintenance tasks on my air conditioner, which is probably the reason why my A/C works as well as it does. So I’ll call for the furnace tune-up because I absolutely do not want any guesswork or even a fleeting thought of whether my furnace will work, or not.
