New air conditioner more efficient at dehumidifying air

A few months ago my beloved air conditioner reached its 15-year mark, so instead of waiting around for it to break down on me unexpectedly at any random moment, I planned ahead to have a new system installed right away.  To my surprise, there were a lot of options available that I could have never dreamed of 15 years ago, and that was before the technician even told me about smart systems. Eventually we narrowed down a choice that seemed both affordable and effective for my home.  It’s nothing fancy, and I didn’t opt for a wifi-connected smart thermostat, but it’s surely an upgrade from my old system. I like the new digital thermostat and the air coming out of the vents is ice cold with the air conditioner on and red hot with the gas furnace running on full blast  What I could have never predicted was how efficient it would be at dehumidifying my air inside my house. I live in a fairly humid climate and had toyed with the idea for the past four or five months of buying a dehumidifier to run in tandem with my central air conditioner. I guess I didn’t realize that the issue all along was the central air conditioner itself, because now that I have the new system in place, my indoor air has never been this dry.  It easily drops into the 50s percentage wise even if it’s over 80% outdoors. I am thoroughly pleased with the results and glad I chose to put in a new system when I did. The reduction in energy costs is going to be a much needed relief on my monthly budget.
