My best friend James and I have known each other since the 6th grade. Even though we went to different colleges, we remained friends over the long four year Gap. My best friend and I settled down in the same small town, and we have been friends for the last 20 years. A couple of months ago, James came to me with an interesting business proposal. James had been working for an HVAC business for a decade. He was promoted to manager a few years ago, and James makes an honest living. James wanted to open his own HVAC repair business. James and I got together to discuss his business plan, and I thought it was a great idea. James needed another investor, in order to get the business started properly. He needed to find a space for the HVAC repair shop, and he needed to procure the necessary tools to do the job. James wanted to start off with two HVAC repair trucks on the road. I sold my software company a few years ago, and pocketed a ton of money. I agreed to front James half of the money, in exchange for 50% of the business. James knows everything about HVAC repair, so I know the business will be successful. We hope to recoup our initial investment over the first two years. After that, we will be reaping in huge profits every year. There are a few other thriving HVAC businesses in our area, so we will stay focused on good customer service and low repair fees. We also have some great advertising ideas and marketing schemes.
