Working at my dad’s sandwich shop this summer season would be a blast! At least that was what I thought, then I found out the hard way that finally working as the service supplier is never that simple! One thing that I did not expect at all was the sheer amount of heat coming from the dining room! It’s already pretty hot in the south during the summer season, but when you mix in sandwiches being made along with other food, it gets to be almost unbearable! You would think that a popular and thriving sandwich shop would be able to afford having a HVAC installed in the dining room, right? Well you might not know but my father although he is a big a penny pincher… He would rather cut off his right hand then have to chalk up the money to buy a brand current a/c unit. He always tells all of the employees that if they want to have some cool air, stick your head in the freezer for a few minutes, what makes me even more frustrated is when he will call myself and others into his office to tell me something. I walk in, and it’s perfectly cool with a nice and chilled breeze in the entire office! Every time that I am in the office I tell my dad how unfair it is that his own employees have to deal with dripping with sweat through our clothes while we are all making sandwiches and coffee, and during the entire summer season but, his response has stayed the same. “Start your own sandwich shop and you can start making the choices about the a/c” Just maybe, I will one day I will!
