Back when I was in college, my roommates and I couldn’t afford much other than food and rent. It was definitely a struggle especially since we didn’t have central HVAC equipment in our place. Well, the one day my one roommate and I noticed this window A/C unit at the dumpster. We decided to pick it up to see if it could work. We were disappointed when we discovered that it wouldn’t even work when we plugged it in. That’s when I decided to tinker around with it instead of throwing it back out.
I took it apart and observed all the pieces. I even looked at some online videos to troubleshoot problems with window A/C units. After quite some time of working with it, I discovered some loose connections and tightened everything up. I was hoping maybe that was the solution to the problem and so I plugged it back in to test it. To my surprise, the A/C fired up and was actually working well. The cooling from that little A/C unit was rather impressive! When I showed my roommates that I managed to fix the A/C unit, they were all excited and couldn’t wait to have it running so we could cool off on these scorching hot days.
No more having to rely on stationary fans! My other roommate was saying I did a great job at repairing that A/C machine and told me I should think about becoming an HVAC technician, that’s where the real money is. Ever since he said that, I have been thinking about attending a trade school instead of the college I was already attending.
