Soda fountains were a dying fad, even when I was growing up, but I still remember some pretty good times that I had there in the one that my small town still had up and running. I find it hilarious that it’s a bar now, but I guess that’s not too crazy. Especially considering that I still visit now and again! Well there is one good reason why I visited it so often as a kid and teenager and why I still continue to come inside now and again for a drink. Their climate control system was and is one of the best in town. Seriously, on a hot summer day there was a reason why everyone went to that soda fountain when I was a kid. It was not just for the cool refreshing sodas and ice creams, but for the cool and refreshing air conditioning system that always seemed to be running at max. I really marveled at the fact that it was always running so well, and I figured that the owners were very careful about maintaining it. I guess it’s a very important part of running a successful watering hole, whether you’re serving ice cream and soda or beers: people come there to cool off and relax. Well, they got that part of their business plan down pat, let me tell you! I even had my first date at that soda fountain! Despite the excellent air conditioning, that was pretty much the only time I was sweating profusely in there despite myself!
