Late last December was on a ten hour road trip to my parents house when I had a very scary and serious accident happen. It was late into the night while I was driving, and the roads where becoming dangerously slick with ice and snow. I ended up sliding off the road and getting stuck in a ditch without a car nearby to see what had happened. Not only was the crash scary, but the impact damaged the car and I wasn’t even able to keep the heating unit on during this chilly night. Luckily for me however, I have a husband who is always thinking of safety first. My husband always keeps water, blankets, and a mini portable heating gas furnace I had gotten from the HVAC heating and cooling company nearby in the backseat in case of any dangerous events such as this one happens when you don’t have access to any proper heating when you are needing help. Because I knew I was safe with my heating unit and extra supplies, I was able to not panic and simply call the police and tell them my location. It only took thirty minutes or so for help to arrive and get me out of that ditch. A few hours later I was sent on my way in a rental car the next morning. Take it from somebody who has experience living in the chilly and unforgiving north, make sure to prepare for the worst by always having an extra heating unit and water supplies when you are living or visiting up here. It just might save your life, I know it might have saved mine!
