I worry about our grandmother a lot these days! Ever since Grandad died, she has been all alone in that house of hers! However, that’s the way she likes it, and she insists on complete independence, which was nice for a while.
She has really made that old house her own.
And of course, I respect that. However, I am starting to wonder whether or not other accommodations would be more suitable for her now. After all, it is a two-story home plus it has a basement as well. This means she’s going up and down stairs quite often, and so that really worries me. She also insists on doing her own yard work! And she uses a manual grass mower! Maybe she still has the strength and the balance to deal with such things, however it is the lack of proper A/C and ventilation in her apartment that worries me. In the Summertime, she barely uses her a/c, and instead she just relies on a few fans around the house. Using her air conditioning unit would be far more effective, although I have to admit that the A/C is on its way out. She has an HVAC worker come out to repair it at least once a year, or so she tells me! I am seriously considering saving up the money to buy her a brand new air conditioning unit. I don’t think she would be able to ignore such kindness coming from her grandchild. I’m pretty sure that she would be thankful enough to use it, or at least I hope that’s the case!
