A Sun Streamed Room of Serenity

Anxiety is such a buzz word in our culture right now.

It seems as though I hear about another famous person talking about dealing with anxiety everyday.

Well, hello and welcome to the parade. I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for well over 30 years. Pretty much since I can remember in fact. So, I have spent all these years learning how to cope with what I consider to be a debilitating condition. I found out early that the more direct sunshine I receive, the better my mental health is. Certainly, just getting sun as the cure for anxiety and depression would be a colossal overstatement. But, for me it is an important puzzle piece. So, I had a sunroom built onto my existing home. It has made a tremendous difference for my overall mental health. I live in an area where there is an abundance of sunshine which is great for a sunroom. However, the temperature of that room can get a bit much. I knew I couldn’t extend the HVAC from the main house out to the sunroom. But, I wasn’t sure what else I could do. Seemed pretty stupid to have a sunroom and not be able to use it when the temps get up near the triple digits. I got the solution from my local heating and cooling company. They installed something called a mini split air conditioner. This thing has made all the difference. It’s basically just an air handler unit hung up high on one wall. The condenser is hidden outside under the eaves of the main house. The sunroom is now so very comfortable and I can get all the sun I need everyday throughout the year.
