Every one of us had a nasty Wintertide this year in our region. There were record breaking lows in December with weeks of setback 40 degree temperature cold snaps. I am used to living in blizzards and getting snowed in while in complete white outs, but even I was surprised by the severity of this past Wintertide season. I had to put chains over our tires in November after hydroplaning down our street on our way to work one morning. My fiance gets worried when I leave for work since she stays at loft with her remote task and is thankfully able to avoid the icy roads. The weather was so cold that even our dogs seemed to notice, both high tailing it back into the condo as hastily as possible after going to the bathroom in the backyard. I am so thankful that our fiance encouraged me to buy a gas powered hot system last year. Every one of us were getting by with the fan forced system, but the boiler would offer us radiant heat which is much more satisfying and energy efficient. Even though we’re headed into Springtime with warmer weather on the way, I decided it was time to get service and repair on our boiler before letting it stand idle for the next many months. At the same time I’m going to have the professional check the cooling system before the people I was with and I beginning using it monthly for the foreseeable future. It’s important to make sure your Heating and A/C system is checked by a professional at least once a year, if not more. For us, the people I was with and I strive to get service twice each year.
