This thing is new to me, although very old

I was perfectly aware of the seasoned Heating, Ventilation & A/C method when I moved into my house, when the preliminary inspection was done before closing, I discovered that the air conditioner was many years seasoned in addition to the gas furnace was 20 years old; Before making arrangements to replace the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, I decided to fully transport everything into the condo so I could see what I was finally working with.

I knew from the start that the Heating, Ventilation & A/C method was old, however in my mind, older equipment was usually built better in addition to able to last longer. Before unpacking my boxes, I decided to turn the old air conditioner on so I could see how well it ran. When I went to find the control unit, I was honestly more than shocked to see a seasoned dial control equipment instead of a programmable 1. I knew the Heating, Ventilation & A/C method was a bit old, although I wasn’t expecting such an seasoned control unit! I didn’t really assume the first thing about increasing the temperature on a dial control unit. I had to squint tightly in order to get a fine look at the settings because everything was so tiny, however there were 2 little sets of numbers, 1 on the top in addition to 1 on the bottom. When I grabbed the side of the old school control equipment to change the temperature, only the top dial moved. I was simply assuming that this was the temperature the control equipment was set to, in addition to the bottom row of numbers were the temperature the condo was particularly at. Instantly after moving the dial, I quickly heard the air conditioner kick on, as far as I can tell, the air conditioner works fine.
