A heat pump winter is my kind of winter

There are definitely plenty of things to become accustomed to when you leave a region you’ve occupied for an adult lifetime.

But one thing I’m definitely all about is the weather.

I do not miss that brutal winter one bit. Not even the absence of a white Christmas mattered for a minute. I’ll trade that old gas furnace for the heat pump any time it’s offered. It’s hard to believe that I walk around in a tee shirt some days in the middle of winter. I’m not huddled next to the HVAC ductwork trying to stay warm. It’s such an amazing change. The fact that I don’t have to deal with the snow and ice is another bonus. Getting all bundled just to go outside of the cozy heating of my house to clear snow and ice was dumb. And my entire life was spent just hating that process. Now, the heat pump might kick on late at night or be heating when I get up in the moring. And then that’s about it. The heat pump might play a bigger role a few time over the winter when an unusual cold snap happens. Now, there is still a price to be paid when it comes to the weather here. It’s not like we get off without any sort of seasonal HVAC load. The summer sees temperatures near the triple digits so there is plenty of HVAC cooling to be had. But I’ll trade a sizzling four months for this sort of winter that’s for sure.
