Things were especially hard for my mother when my father passed away. Suddenly she had to worry about things like getting regular HVAC system maintenance and changing the air filters. She had to keep the house clean with good air quality, and she had to cover all the bills. Fortunately, Dad had an excellent life insurance plan, so my mother is able to live comfortably without having to work all the time. She works part time at a flower shop where they have surprisingly good temperature control settings, but I know that’s to help keep the flowers as fresh and preserved as possible. Anyway, I have been stepping up to help my mother out all the time these days. She kept complaining about poor air quality, even though she was changing the air filters all the time. The air filters were good enough quality, so it was confusing at first. Then I came to find that the ductwork system was entirely filthy. I told my mother she could use a good ductwork cleaning. When I learned how costly her energy bills were, I thought the ductwork might also need to be resealed. Since the HVAC was old and could use a replacement, the expert presented the option of having a ductless mini split installed. It was a reasonable cost, so we went for it and now my mother has awesome air quality and perfect comfort.
