Finding the source for all the energy waste in the winter

I’ve never been a fan of winter! And I’m not even legitimately from around here, then where I grew up, there was some winter season weather however it was nothing akin to what I experience these days; my parents had a good beach house that I was lucky enough to grow up in, then our heating system was a wood stove primarily… Then however, that’s because our dad preferred it and we lived on a lot of acreage with plenty of available firewood.

  • But we also had a heat pump that gave heating on the days that weren’t all that cold.

And our neighbors all had heat pumps as well! It could get freezing, however nothing prefers what I’m dealing with now. Yet this year, we are doing so much better thanks to myself and others finally tracking down a heating thief, then since we’ve been up here and in this house, I’ve not been completely committed to winter season prep on the house. Of course, each fall I call the heating and A/C company to set the appointment for the heating service. That’s something that I’ve typically done as it just makes great sense. But as far as the beach house was concerned, I was sort of hit and miss. But this year, I legitimately took winter season preparation on the beach house a lot more seriously. I even went so far as to get a thermal gun in order to find the source of a big heating leak in our home. This instant learning temperature gun allowed myself and others to see just where the heat was pouring out of the house. I was surprised to find so many small leaks. But I finally found the legitimately big one and was able to seal that up for good. Having a tighter beach house has made the winter season in our lake house so much more comfortable.
