Knowing what I know now, I really wish that I would have bought a digital or smart thermostat for my air conditioner a long time ago.
I mean, there are so many benefits to having those fancy thermostats, such as what I could have used last month before I went on a long vacation.
Since I have been faithfully working at my company for quite a while, they allow me to take one month’s full paid vacation to spent time with my family. Usually, we enjoy a stay-cation where we stay at home but don’t tell anybody that we are actually at home. That may sound boring, but we were really doing was to save for a month-long trip to a foreign country. It was such a blast to spend that kind of time with my event. However, before I left, I kept reminding myself that I needed to adjust the setting on my HVAC unit. With all of the expenses for going on a huge vacation like that, the last thing I needed was to be paying utilities for no reason. I remembered to turn off all of my lights and devices. I remembered to check all of the faucets and locks. But I didn’t remember to adjust the thermostat for the HVAC unit. For an entire month, I cooled my house with our air conditioner for absolutely no reason. My house was the perfect temperature, but nobody was there to enjoy it. I expected to walk into my house and run straight for the thermostat to make myself comfortable, but I walked into a paradise, and my heart sank. Finding the bill for the electricity to run the HVAC unit the entire time made my heart sink again. Next week, I am buying a digital thermostat. I will never make that mistake again.
