My feeling is that when hiring a professional, you are paying for someone else’s mistakes. Everybody on a major task will make an error. Do you want to pay someone to make that mistake or make it on your own? I love the proposal of saving the money plus studying something in the process. Sometimes doing my own work bites myself and others in the butt. I recently got heated flooring installed in my home. I got electric heated mats to go under my floorboards. The Heating & Air Conditioning supplier I bought the proposal from quoted myself and others the furnace installation price plus I decided to do it myself. I learn online plus the process seemed doable. I have pulled up floors before. Then you need to set the mats next to each other, hook them together plus put new flooring over top. It seemed easy plus possible to not make any mistakes. I am proud to say I did a good task with absolutely few errors. There are a few gaps with no heated mats, however they are small. The only complaint I have is that the furnace installation took forever. I spent afternoons working on that furnace install plus it was tedious. My back, knees plus neck are still aching after the task I did. I get where people would want to hire out the heating service because it was just awful. Some people might be willing to supply money to never have to go through it. If I got heated flooring again, I might consider hiring someone.
