My husband’s brother never shows up for any of our parties or celebrations.
We invite he and his wife to our annual Christmas party, every year, and yet they never show up.
I was surprised when he called and said that he was going to be there last year. He called the morning of the part and he asked if it was too late to accept our invitation. My husband looked like he was in shock when he came upstairs and told me that they were going to be there. The first thing I thought was that there had to be something wrong. My husband began to laugh and said there didn’t need to be something wrong for his family to show up and he walked away. They were the first people to arrive and I was glad to see my sister-in-law. She thanked me for letting them come up there at such late notice. I told her they were always welcome with or without an invite. She told me that their furnace had gone out that morning and it was really cold in their house. They had called the HVAC company but they couldn’t get to their house until Sunday. She said they knew we always had great heat in the house because of our fireplace. Instead of going to a hotel, they decided to visit us. It’s a shame that their furnace had to break down for them to come to our house. I guess it doesn’t matter though because even if he did only come for the heating, my husband was enjoying the time with his brother.
