One of the worst concerns I’ve had with our apartment was the HVAC duct, when the two of us first bought the home, the two of us hired a licensed Heating & Air Conditioning company to inspect the heating & cooling system, however my fiance & I wanted to make sure the oil furnace & air conditioning were in great working order.
- The Heating & Air Conditioning company completed a full repair of the components, including cleaning, tuning & concernshooting, he assured us that the heating & cooling equipment was operating at peak efficiency & could be expected to last quite a few more years.
I don’t think the company took the time to check or test the integrity of the HVAC duct, over the next three years, the two of us noticed a steady decline in the performance of both the heating & cooling systems. Our daily daily bills increased even while comfort diminished. On especially warm & humid Summer nights, the apartment felt warm & sticky, no matter how low the two of us adjusted the temperature control. During the coldest nights of winter, the oil furnace failed to keep up & the two of us shivered under extra blankets. I was also unhappy with the amount of dust & other contaminants blowing from the events. I made sure to call a different Heating & Air Conditioning corporation for repair this time. This serviceman instantly targeted the duct program as the source of all of our complaints. He found leaks at the seams, small holes & an accumulation of debris within the pipes. The ducts were wasting a tremendous amount of energy, polluting indoor air pollen levels & requiring the heating & cooling equipment to work a lot harder, but fortunately, duct cleaning & sealing solved all of these concerns.
