I have been a writer for over a decade, and I am only now finally getting a room of my own. A writing room has been something I have always dreamed about. Now that I am landing my first big publishing deal, my husband and I have decided that I am finally ready to take up my own space in the house just for my work. See, between he and I and our adopted son, I definitely need a little more peace and quiet to be my tasks done. Now that I have this publishing contract, my debut novel has become a trilogy. While this is wonderful news, it also means that I now have to get the next two novels out on very exacting deadlines. It can be done, but I’ll need to be able to stay focused to do it. I also needed the perfect desk, and as my husband has found out, I sort of hate everything. I don’t like the big wood desks, nor the tiny secretary desks. When I was about ready to give up, he called a custom made furniture store and booked an appointment. I was worried that my advance wouldn’t cover it, but he assured me it was a gift for all of my hard work and to celebrate this new milestone. The custom made furniture store staff helped me build the perfect desk, which is very light and airy, so that it suits my needs. It has places to store my books, and even a little spot to prop a notebook while I type things up. I couldn’t be happier with my custom made desk.
