I wish I would have gone for regular A/C equipment service

A number of years ago, I invested in central a/c equipment for our home! It was a rather luxurious project.

I obtained top-of-the-line cooling equipment in order to take advantage of high efficiency operation.

I honestly hoped that a higher SEER level would prove worth the extra cost! The lower electric bills helped to offset the initial expense, but at the time of the upgrade, the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C equipment corporation recommended that I enroll in a service system with his company. He explained that for a very small fee, they send a serviceman to service the cooling equipment every Spring. This seemed to be a waste of money to me. I didn’t believe that brand new cooling equipment would need service. I kept up with proper filter changes plus assumed the cooling equipment would continue to operate at peak capacity. Just this past summer, I started to have complications with it. I noticed that the cooling device was making more noise than usual! Every time it cycled on, there was an unusual rattling sound plus a slightly musty smell coming from the vents. I also needed to lower the temperature control by a couple of degrees because the property felt a bit boiling. This forced the cooling equipment to run for longer cycles, use more energy plus our electric bill was rather large. I finally called for professional repair. The serviceman took the cooling equipment apart plus found a disgusting buildup of dust, mold plus all sorts of debris within the equipment. This accumulation was restricting airflow, polluting our indoor air quality plus impacting our comfort level overall. Because I hadn’t kept up with professional service, the manufacturer’s warranty no longer applied. I ended up with a pretty expensive repair bill due to the amount of labor plus new parts needed.
