I should have enrolled in an HVAC service plan

A little over a few years ago, I invested in a central air conditioner machine for my residence.

It was a rather lavish project.

I bought a top-of-the-line cooling machine in order to take complete advantage of high efficiency operation. I was honestly hoping that a higher SEER level would prove worth the extra cost, but the lower electric bills help to offset the initial expense. At the time of the replacement, the Heating and A/C machine contractor advocated that I enroll in a maintenance plan with his business. He explained that for a tiny fee, they send a professional to repair the a/c machine every Spring. This seemed basically like a complete waste of money to me. I didn’t really know that a brand new a/c machine would need maintenance. I kept up with proper air filter changes and assumed the a/c machine would continue to operate at peak capacity… Just this past summer season, I started to have complications with it. I observed that the cooling machine was making more noise than usual. Every time it cycled on, there was an unusual rattling sound and a slightly musty stink coming from the vents. I also needed to lower the thermostat by a few degrees because the residence felt a bit overheated. This forced the a/c machine to run for longer cycles, use more energy and my electric bill was fairly large. I finally called for professional repair. The professional took the a/c machine apart and found a disgusting buildup of dust, mold and all sorts of debris within the equipment. This accumulation was totally restricting airflow, polluting my indoor air quality and impacting my comfort level. Because I hadn’t kept up with professional service, the manufacturer’s warranty no longer applied. I ended up with a very costly repair bill due to the amount of labor and replacement parts needed.
