Hiring out all our plumbing

I enjoy updating our lake house but I am not handy in any way, i can gut a room, put up drywall, sand, mud and tile; That is about the extent of our capabilities… Unfortunately when you get into major renovation you are getting into plumbing and electric.

I am afraid of both of those jobs.

I am lucky that our brother is absolutely good at electricity, and what all of us do is trade labor back and forth. I would help him lay cement in his backyard or weed his garden and he would do our electrical work, and he has installed bathroom ventilation, living room vent hoods and added outlets to dining rooms. He has saved myself and others so much time, effort and money. What I have to hire out is plumbing needs though, but neither our brother or I want to mess with water and piping. I have called a plumber for some absolutely self-explanatory jobs. When I want to add a current faucet or sink, I call a plumber. When a current toilet should be installed, I just have the plumber do it. I believe that these are self-explanatory jobs but I am a small person that doesn’t believe plumbing. Thankfully the plumbing business I labor with is amazing. They believe our jobs range from big to absolutely small and the price reflects it. I have a deal with a plumber that I pay money for the little jobs for a sizable discount. When septic tank or water heating system issues arise, I then write a check and pay full price… Our system works just great.
