AC was on the fritz; I left the ceremony

Some people might say that I am an extremely particular and rigid sort of person.

I don’t happen to agree with their assessment, but I can admit that there are several things that I refuse to compromise on.

When we go out for drinks or dinner together, everyone is paying their own bill. When we decide to plan a vacation together, I want to be the person in charge of the reservations. And when we agree to go somewhere in public, I insist that they have working indoor air handling devices. I know, this last one shouldn’t seem like much of a problem. What public space does not have a working heating and cooling unit? Well, you would be surprised. Last year my cousin decided to get married in a large and fancy venue. From the moment that I arrived at the wedding ceremony I felt like the indoor air temperature was not right. It was not cool and fresh indoors as you would expect in the middle of summer with a commercial grade air conditioning system on your side. Surely, the fancy event space had a massive cooling system installed to keep the indoor air quality under control. Well… Not that day. Apparently, the central HVAC system had broken down the night before the wedding ceremony. While we waited for the ceremony to begin I was sweating in my seats, staring at the overhead ventilation units and waiting for a cool breeze to save me from the sweltering heat. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning God’s never answered my prayers. I waited long enough for the bride and groom to say I do… And then I skedaddled right out of there. Sorry to ruin your wedding, but your lack of AC was really ruining my suit.
