Don’t clean your own ducts – spiders

I know that everybody is looking to save a buck these days.

It’s obvious that none of us are in an amazing financial position after the past year of social unrest and uncertainty.

I think most of us are scraping by trying to pay our own bills and keep our family afloat. Unfortunately, this has led to a lot of mistakes around my household as we have attempted to be resourceful rather than wise. For me, a lot of the mistakes began when I started watching DIY videos on YouTube out of boredom. I decided that I could surely take on the same indoor appliance repairs as the men in the videos I was watching. I was incorrect. I managed to break our AC window unit to the first week that I was at home. Then, I tried to reset our thermostats temperature control settings to establish a more eco-friendly indoor air temperature control plan. Instead, I drove up our energy bills and put a lot of extra wear and tear on the entire heating, cooling, and ventilation system. After our indoor air handling devices were suffering from my prior attempts to fix them I stupidly decided that I could handle the professional ductwork cleaning that was recommended by all of the DIY HVAC videos. I got our vacuum cleaner out, a flashlight in hand, and popped the air vents off of our ductwork. I got a few moments into the ductwork cleaning project when I made a horrible discovery… Spiders. If you didn’t know, apparently your ductwork is an amazing place for arachnids to take residence. As I stumbled upon the spider nest in the air ductwork, I went flying out of the air vent and managed to smack my head against our coffee table. Now we’re working on a new repair… My broken collarbone.
