AC in a forgin country

A year ago, I decided to take a backpacking trip abroad.

  • The weather conditions of the region I traveled to was similar to where I live in the US, but humidity & high temperatures did not worry myself and others as I was used to such conditions where I live now.

One thing I was not prepared for was the lack of air conditioner in this foregin site. The first place I stayed in was a small room with a private powder room & a single window. The place was cheap & gave free dinner… As a solo traveler, I needed to be frugal with the sites I decided to stay. This place was annoyed. The bed had a mosquito net & there was no fan or AC to supply any airflow. I did not sleep well that evening, regardless of the fact that I had traveled to my destination for 2 full afternoons. I was so uncomfortable in the moderate room! Against my better judgement, I decided to open the front door to supply some airflow into the room throughout the evening. This helped tremendously, however my concerns for my safety still made it difficult to sleep.I decided to make sure that the next place I stayed in had an cooling system, or at least a wonderful fan. I found this to be challenging throughout my travels. Many natives have never even heard of an AC, let alone had 1 in their homes. It is worthwhile to do your research ahead of time & find the place that have A/C, even if they are a bit more extravagant, it is worth the extra money.
