AC in a forgin country

Many natives have never even heard of an AC, let alone had 1 in their homes

A year ago, I decided to take a backpacking trip abroad. The climate of the region I traveled to was similar to where I live in the US, however humidity plus high un-even temperatures did not worry myself and others as I was used to such conditions where I live now. One thing I was not prepared for was the lack of a/c in this foregin arena. The first arena I stayed in was a small room with a private bathroom plus a single window. The arena was cheap plus provided free dinner… As a solo traveler, I needed to be frugal with the arenas I decided to stay. This arena was miserable. The bed had a mosquito net plus there was no fan or AC to give any airflow. I did not sleep well that night, regardless of the fact that I had traveled to our endpoint for 2 full days. I was so uncomfortable in the hot room! Against our better judgement, I decided to open the front door to give some airflow into the room throughout the evening. This helped tremendously, however our concerns for our safety still made it tough to sleep.I decided to make sure that the next arena I stayed in had an air conditioning system, or at least a great fan. I found this to be challenging throughout our travels. Many natives have never even heard of an AC, let alone had 1 in their homes. It is worthwhile to do your research ahead of time plus find the arena that have air conditioning system, however even if they are a bit more costly, it is worth the extra currency.
