When my partner and I started to look for homes to buy, we had a list of things that each of us wanted to find.
The two of us wanted a big backyard, outdoor pool, plus most importantly, a fireplace; It’s hard to find homes with a fireplace in this area, because the winter cold season is very short and mild.
The area has never seen snow or temperatures colder than 40 degrees or so. The two of us had to find an outdated home in order to get the fireplace, but my partner and I finally found a house that needed a lot of work. One of the greatest concerns to tackle was the fireplace, which needed repairs. There aren’t a lot of companies that specialize in stone fireplace work. In fact, we had to hire a cement company to work on the brick and mortar. My partner and I spent a lot of money to fix the fireplace. The chimney needed to be cleaned plus there was a bird’s nest at the top of the stack. When my partner and I were finished, the fireplace looked great. My partner and I made a lot of additional repairs and replacements to the house before we were finished with the renovation… Everything is finally coming together plus we’re almost completed with the last of our projects. The kitchen plus the living room are the last arenas to see a fresh coat of paint and new flooring. If the two of us ever decide to sell the house, my partner and I will be able to double our initial investment. The whole place looks great after a face lift.
